It is important for any website designers to be able to keep up website trends to maintain success in an ever expanding and competitive web space. This does not mean, however, that all trends should be considered - successful user experience should be central in any web design. If your website is meant to ultimately get the user to complete a website goal, then the rest of the web pages and page content should be designed to allow your user to arrive to that goal.

User interface design pertains to the way users interact with interface elements, in an application, such as buttons, text, symbols or icons in order to accomplish specific objectives. A good UI design will have a simple interface, be consistent in its UI elements, purposeful in the layout of the page, implements information hierarchy, but ultimately it must allow for the user to complete his or her goal when navigating through an application.

Information architecture is the process of structuring, organizing, and labeling contents of a document or a page to effectively and efficiently convey information to the user. A good use of information architecture enables the user to be able to complete their task as well as access information with ease. This is only possible by understanding the interdependencies between context (goal of the user), content (content and document type), and users (audiences and behaviours).

Brand identity is the way a company markets itself to their costumers emotionally through the visual design strategies, which include company colors, logo, theme colors, typefaces, imagery and uses, and typographic styles. The way a company's brand identity is put together will determine how costumers or the public will connect with the brand and product at an emotional level. A company will require a visual styleguide package to ensure that brand identity is maintained in everything they put out.

Data visualization is another way of representing information or raw data in a more visual approach. Data visualization can be used for many purposes, but ultimately, the main purpose is to educate. Data visualization involves the process of taking otherwise complicated data and transforming into more understandable components using graphs, charts, icons, diagrams, and captions. Furthermore, data visualization is the process of condensing large amount of information into more digestible pieces.
